I hope you weren't coming here with the intention to read about Ouran, and if you were.. there's always next month. Within this last week of July/Beginning of August, something amazing happened! After what felt like less time than it probably took EmJay to make graphics and revamp our website, we became the official [and only] radio network of the Risembool Rangers. Which, if you didn't know by now, yes Rangers as in Risembool. Risembool as in Rangers. All of this going back to Vic Mignogna. Our main idea of all this began [or so I'm told] way back when of yester-year. Risemball was in it's prime, and the network was formerly known as "RRSN" or Risembool Rangers Sports Network. Generally, whenever there was a game of Risemball, RRSN would be there to report on it. Of course, times change, and so did the network premise. The word "sports" was eventually dropped, [because outside of EmJay I don't know many Rangers who are into sports] and now it's come to be what you know it as today: RRN, the Ranger Radio Network.
The wheels began to turn in late November and into December of last year. As a whole, the Rangers were [and still are] constantly growing. What better way than to really stand out, [aside from all the work that the officers and Vic had already provided] than by, in time, having our own network, right? Of course! Our first show (The Poolside with EmJay) took off on December 23rd (this editorial writer's birthday) and from there has collected seven episodes and over 800 views to date. If you're curious and might not know of this show's content, I invite you to go to the shows tab to learn more. We slowly but surely had a few more add-ons, such as The Bamboo Radio Show, and the more well known favorite; Poolboy and Panda. Both shows are sadly yet to be released, but rest assured now being official: the kinks are being worked out! In the beginning of this year, we welcomed another addition to our editorial branch: Tyler's Terrific Manga Spotlight! Showcasing and focusing on all lesser known manga works, and why you [the viewer/reader] might be interested in picking up a copy.
Speak of shows and editorials, I should probably get back to this month's purpose for TMF. I'm not going to lie to you, trying to figure out how to write about something that happened within a weeks time isn't easy. So instead, let's sum it up in one easy swoop! EmJay sends an email to Vic, Vic, who was at comic con at the time [the last day i'd guess], reads said email and replies. Instantly, the idea goes from just being called RRN to now being more than just the name and we're lifted from the ground. Vic loves the idea, and informs EmJay he'll pass it along to his fellow officers to vote upon...about three or four days pass...and here we are! See!? Now how could I turn a one sentence summary into an editorial? I just...can't...okay. So maybe it CAN happen. If I know how to write properly, that is.
I suppose I should also mention, if you didn't know, I happen to be RRN's PR [public relations] Manager. So, what does that mean to you? Well, I hope you like spam and lots of it. My main goal is to promote, promote, promote! Since we're still in our infancy here at RRN, it's great to be official, but my job is far from over! Our ideas and hopes of where to take the network are never ending, but we can't do it all alone. We're primarly a network for Rangers, created by Rangers. Now, I admit, you don't necessarily need to be a Ranger to enjoy the network, as plenty of our programs and editorials are more for the average otaku [fan of anime], but being in the fanbase is a definite help. Not only to us, but for the actual Risembool Rangers themselves. Small side note of congradulations, as the actual group itself reached over 12,000 members not long ago. Can you imagine that? 12,000! It wasn't that long ago that things for the Rangers themselves were much the same way as this network and just slowly but surely creeping along before it took off. We hope to reach that same level of recognition being on board, and hope that you're willing to help.
Ahh help, it probably goes without saying that being new: we need it. Now please please, don't start spamming RRN's email address all at once (Allthough I am curious to see how many emails gmail can handle) as we too have lives. Not that we don't pay attention to every detail possible of both you and the network, but I can at the least say, laptops are shared. This means that, sometimes, you might not get a reply to a response you've sent as quickly as you'd like. We're still getting adjusted to multi-tasking after all. Back to the matter of help! Do you have an idea for a podcast or a video show? Send it! How about an editorial? We take those too! No idea is too unheard of, since we're made in respects of taking your considerations, views, and ideas to mind. We're willing to read or listen to just about everything. Optimism over pessimism, after all.
For those of you new to the network and the Rangers, I can't encourage you enough to go back in our show and editorials history. You've got a lot to see! Plus, the more you look around and take in, the more you'll become accustomed to the release dates, personalities, and just general behavior of those involved with things thus far. If nothing else, I'd recommend taking a look at the "Hosts" page of our site, as you can find any and all things linking the four of us to you! Facebook, Twitter, XBox Live.. etc. Maybe you were interested in knowing cons we've attended? Maybe you'd like to know about our favorite colors? All of this can be found there.
If you're curious about the long-term goals and ideas, we really only had in mind that we wanted to make things as ranger-orientated as possible. Being official, all that's left to do now is getting something on the Rangers website itself. This idea was, too [much to the like of the network itself], already submitted to the proper person and hopefully will be featured soon on the main page. Essentially, our ideal in the creation of the network was, "How awesome would it be to say you have: a fanbase, forum, chatroom, AND a radio network?" Pretty cool right? I, myself, can't think of many voice actors to have so much going for them. Which isn't to say they couldn't or can't, but it couldn't of gone first to a sweeter guy. Without Vic and his wonderful officers, we wouldn't be here today. So, it really means a lot to us to of got this far. Eventually, we'd like to be able to go to cons to hand out business cards and see Rangers wearing RRN merchandise they bought in the RRN Store. We're just that serious about making this network be as large as the Rangers are themselves. The more publicity we can spread for the network, the more fans the Rangers will also achieve. More the merrier, That's our goal!
Boy, for not knowing how to make something out of a one line sentence, I managed to do pretty well this month, didn't I? Before I close out, I just wanted to mention that I am a frequent member of the Risembool Rangers Chatroom. So, if you ever wanted to shoot your ideas at me, or get to know me; you should come and say hello. Now, I don't live in there, but I usually find myself there a lot of the time each day. Also, a pre-happy birthday wish goes out to Vic. As many of you know, he'll be turning another year older toward the end of this month (August 27th). Being PR Manager, I'd be ashamed not to know something as large as this. All I ask is that if you want to send him birthday wishes or gifts, do so in moderation. I'm sure he's already bracing himself for impact once the day rolls around, but a lot of his time in replying to emails and quite possibly being in the chatroom (and, yes, on rare occasion he does come in there) are preformed from his iPhone.
For those of you who don't have one, believe me when I say it's not as easy to navigate as you'd think. Typing alone on that thing if you're not used to it can take a lot of time from your life. Word is, he will be in the Ranger Chatroom the day of his birthday. Fair Warning: the room [not counting mods and Vic] can only hold up to 50 people at one time. Try and take it easy on those in there who are in charge that day, as I'm sure just as frustrated as you are for Vic may not noticing you talking to him, everyone else is just as taken back but trying to remain patient to handle so many people at once. Your safer bet would be to send him an e-mail, as at least then he'd probably be more likely to see it.
Still wondering about the Network, Rangers, or anything I might of forgot to add this month? Send us an email. I noticed I tend to ramble about nothing at all, or at least not what I was meant to be speaking about. Really, it's more that I had no clue what to go on this time aroud. That and I was nibbling on a huge spoon full of procrastination. It tastes more and more delicious the closer I get to my release date without having something typed up in advance. Err...uh...but I PROMISE you I'm not lazy! Just..easily distracted. Yeah, that sounds better. Distracted!
That about does it for this month, get out there and spread the word Rangers: We're here to stay!
[Editors Note: I swear next month is going to be Ouran! I promis-- Ooo something shiny! *Flee*]
